Ascot is a summoner, and he refers to his Majyuu as his "friends". Ascot claims that everybody says his Majyuu are good for nothing but trouble and hates having them around, therefore, he was continuously pushed out of where ever people live. Zagato offered Ascot and his friends a place to live, so Ascot joined him in destroying the Knights as a means to repay him.
After failing a few missions, he got into a fight with Umi and began to understand her better than he might have wanted to. He started side with the Knights and helped them on several occasions. In the second season, Ascot returns in looking like a grownup instead of a kid. Caldina states that he did it because he wanted to impress Umi, but he was too shy to admit it. His love to Umi is undeniable, however, Umi doesn't seem to notice it.
