Clef is the first person the Knights meet when they arrive to Cefiro. He's also the person who saved them from meteoriting into the ground. He didn't really make a good impression of himself at their first encounter, however, he helped the Knights a lot on their journey by teaching them magic, providing them with a self-growing armour and advising them what to do when they were lost. Although not the most interesting and indepth character, he sure has a few fans.
It was made pretty clear that Presia loves Clef, even though he was 745 years old. There's also talk about Umi liking Clef, but there was never hard evidence to support it, so if you want to know our take about it, head over to the FAQ. In the Anime, Presia's sister, Sierra takes her place after her death. Despite all of this going on, Clef doesn't seem the least concerned about it (perhaps he doesn't even know) and he goes about his days worrying about Cefiro.
