Questions on characters have always been a hot topic, stuff ranging from who likes who to who is he/she really kind questions. There's a lot of these, but most of them can be solved by watching the series as a whole. The questions listed here are more of the non-direct stuff that you have to think about instead of just watching the series to find out. If you can't find the answer to the question you seek, use the Request Form and I'll try to answer you in any way I can ^^

28. I have watched both seasons of MKR, but my question has to do with the difference between the Manga and the Anime. I heard in the Manga, Hikaru becomes Cefiro Pillar just as the Anime but my question is does she stay in Cefiro as the Pillar or does she go back to her world like in the Anime? And at the ending of the Anime she asks to go back to Cefiro again is that possible, since she became the Pillar is she able to go back once more?
29. Are Fuu and Umi sisters? They both look alike because their faces are not round!
30. What is the colour of Fuu's hair? Blonde? No, brown? No, both? Which is it? What does Mokona do in the MKR Anime? How come Hikaru has less spells than the other 2 knights?
31. I've been really thinking, is Clef really human? Like as in he never seems to die (even though he's turned to stone) and he never likes anyone and never ever eats (many characters are also like that) but where does he come from? Why isn't there any information on his background? Also, he seems to use a lot of hair gel, his hair is always pointy (even when lying down)...
32. Who does Hikaru like more? Lantis or Eagle?
33. Well I was wondering, in the second series of the Manga when Mokona becomes serious and is about to choose the start the pillar test and all that, how do Hikaru and Eagle fit into his mouth? I mean, does he supersize or something?
34. I saw the Rayearth OVA and noticed Rayearth (Mashin/Rune God) was given a different name. I have since forgotten it and was wondering what the other name was...
35. You said that in the Anime, Hikaru can't return to Cefiro anymore because she is no longer a Pillar, but there wasn't a Pillar when Emeraude was killed but they still manage to return for a second time to fight Debonair and Nova didn't they? Isn't it those who have strong will would be able to travel to Cefiro if they wished?
36. Hey! I would like to know if you knew how Rayearth and the others became The Legendary Mashins or Rune Gods... They are such warm hearted characters, it would be nice to know what was up with them before they became that, or if you had a theory about it... Thanx in advance!

   As far as the Anime and Manga goes, I can only say that Ascot likes Umi, but we never find out how Umi thinks about Ascot. We're not even sure if Umi is aware that Ascot likes her (Umi's "like" doesn't really get into the "love" category)!

   According to the Manga, Hikaru likes both Eagle and Lantis. It's kind of the same in the Anime, but Eagle died in the Anime.

3. Who is Nova really?

   Nova only exists in the Anime version. She's kind of the dark side of Hikaru. Nova is another Hikaru. To explain it in more detail, Nova was created when Hikaru left Cefiro after killing Princess Emeraude in the first season. She was the sadness and self-hatred Hikaru had at that particular time. It was so strong that it created a 'shadow' of herself in Cefiro. But before Nova can go anywhere, Hikaru was warped back to Tokyo.

   Later, the dark queen Debonair picked her up and treated Nova as her daughter (because she wanted Nova's power of hatred and all that). Later in the second season when Hikaru encounters Nova, she says Hikaru can only 'play' with her and she hates whatever Hikaru likes and loves whatever Hikaru hates. Therefore, she will kill Hikaru. What she means is Hikaru hates herself and she will kill her since Hikaru won't do that. That was what Hikaru wanted to do at the moment when Nova was created since Hikaru can't find a way to 'save' Princess Emeraude other than to kill her.

   In the final episode, Nova encountered a determined Hikaru who has found out the truth and both of them merged once again. Another interesting thing is that Nova is part of Hikaru's heart, that's why she is said to be Hikaru's opposite-self by others. If you destroy Nova, part of Hikaru's heart will be destroyed too - the reason Lantis was captured by Nova (Lantis didn't want to hurt Hikaru by killing Nova).

4. What is Mokona?

   In the Anime version, Mokona is really just Mokona. But in the Manga version, Mokona was actually the 'Creator' that created the whole world (including Cefiro, the nations around it and even Earth). When Mokona takes the form of 'Creator', the red gem on his forehead changes to yellow and has a pair of feather wings. The smiling expression on his face would also be replaced with a more serious looking face.

5. Is Seresu supposed to be "Seresu", "Selece", "Ceres", "Celece", "Cerusu", "Seres", or "Seles"? That's about as many names he has!

   Well, the ones I've seen on the net are Seresu, Selece, and Ceres. As for the other ones, they are pronounced nearly the same way, but I don't think anybody uses them. Also as pointed out to me by Dea (an old friend of mine), Selece is the official name that CLAMP uses, but the name really came from Ceres, a model of Toyota. However, whatever name you use, it should start with an 'S' since Seresu's magical symbol is an 'S'.

6. How come Princess Emeraude looks like a little girl, but is actually older than Ferio?

   If you've seen the Anime or the Manga, you will know that Princess Emeraude actually has another form. This form is the Emeraude who threw away the responsibility of being Pillar of Cefiro in order to be in love with Zagato. Yes, this form was the Emeraude that fought with the Magic Knights on the last episode of season 1. We learn from Eagle in season 2 that you cannot judge the age of a person from Cefiro by their looks since they can use their Will to change their appearance. A classic is Clef (he's actually 745 years old)! Knowing that, it is much easier to explain to yourself why Emeraude is older than Ferio but looks younger.

7. At the end of the second season, Umi went to tell something to Clef but he says he knows. Do you think they are in love with each other or does she just want to say she was sorry for all the trouble and being selfish all the time?

   I've discussed this with Seresu and we both agree Umi is just trying to say sorry. We don't really think Umi would like Clef - since he is 745 years old! From Umi's personality, we really don't think she would love anybody at that age, even though if she does, it should be Ascot. But there is no definite prove, so we can only give our point of view.    Well, it really depends on how you think of these things. In the end, having Umi ask Clef if he was ok, one can think that Umi does like Clef. Also in an episode of season 2, when Caldina joked that Umi likes Clef, Umi did blush and hurry out of the room, but still, Umi never did say that she loves Clef. There's simply not enough prove to see if Umi does love Clef. As said before in another answer, Umi simply cares for Clef since she was sorry for how she treated him in the first season. As for Hikaru and Lantis, Fuu and Ferio, I agree with you, they do pair up. As for the Manga version, there is no evidence which suggests Umi liking Clef, not even at the very end. At the end, Ascot asks Umi if she has ever talked about love with anybody else, and her answer was 'no'. Just a word about the theme songs, it really depends on which version you watch. If you watch in the Hong Kong version of the song, you see Clef with Umi (kind of), but in the original Japanese version, it is totally different, so you can never be sure about who's right and who's wrong.

   The only real way for find out who Umi eventually pairs up with is to ask CLAMP. This question has been raised a wee bit too many times that I'm starting to get bored of answering it. Never the less, I'll say it again, we never got to know who Umi pairs up with, period. I guess this is one of the nice things about CLAMP, they let you continue the story in your own mystical mind ^^ As for Fuu and Ferio, how they would end up has been really made up at the end of the series. Both of them has proclaimed their love to each other (well, at least in my point of view). As for how they actually end up living happily ever after, it's just the same case with Umi above. There is no set answer, so all we can do is use our minds to imagine the ending ^^

    Now, that's a question you don't hear everyday! Hmmm, from what I understand from the series (mostly from second season), Clef is simply thankful for Umi and the others to come back and fight for Cefiro at its darkest hour. I can't really say if Clef has any special feelings for Umi, but he sure does care for her. If he didn't, he wouldn't have said those things in the second season to calm her down when she can't sleep. Now, don't get me wrong, he's just as caring for the other two knights, but it just happened that Umi was the one who went to him. And when Clef says anything to the knights, he didn't really specifically say he's talking to Umi or something. Again, if you wish to pursue the real answer, ask CLAMP ^^;;

    You're confused because you haven't seen the second season. In Cefiro, one can change his/her looks by his will, so Ascot may look like a kid, his age might not be what it seems. In the second season, he changed his looks to a grown up (even taller than Umi), so he looks different, but he is still the same Ascot ^_~

    In the Anime, he dies, trying to save Lantis from Nova's Mashin. In the Manga, he goes into a deep sleep (like a coma) after being pulled back into Cefiro, but he can still communicate with others via some telepathic link kinda thing.

    Mokona (note that Mokona has no official gender) didn't change much anytime in the Anime, so it's still the same. In the Manga, after Hikaru became the new Pillar, Mokona changed back to the old "Puu"ing Mokona.

16. What's the "chan" thing that Hikaru always uses? Fuu also does a "san" thing too.

    "chan" is a suffix you can add in Japanese when you call somebody. It's used mainly on girls. It's something you add if you're talking to a friend of the same or lower social status. It's kinda like calling Tom "Tommy" in English. "san" is the same deal, but it's used to express respect. It's equalivant to the English mister, miss and mistress.

    Mokona (note that Mokona has no official gender) was something Princess Emeraude gave Clef prior to the summoning of the Magic Knights. She said Mokona would guide the Knights. Other than that, there's no more information regarding Mokona's origin.

18. How was Emerade chosen as the pillar of Cefiro? Why didn't she abolish the pillar system like Hikaru did?

    It was never told in detail about how Emerade was chosen, but we do know that she was raised by Clef. In the second season of the Anime, there was a flashback about Emerade entering the throne room to recieve the Pillar's Proof (her crown). As for why she didn't abolish the pillar system, I guess it's not everyday that you'll think about breaking what's been since there was history (the pillar system was used since the beginning of Cefiro).

19. Which Knight did the talking in the introduction of the show? Is it just one or is it all of them together?

    Keep in mind this answer is based on the Japanese version. If you're talking about the first season, then it's the narrator. Yes, there was somebody there to voice the narrator. To find out who voiced the narrator (and the other characters), visit the Anime Pocket Guide. As for the second season, different episodes had different Knights voicing the introductions.

20. How old are Ferio and Ascot? How did Presia die? Is it Clef who loves Presia or the other way round?

    As already stated by Eagle, the age of people in Cefiro can't be determined by their looks. As far as I know, either Ferio nor Ascot's age has been stated anywhere in the Anime or Manga, so I don't know. As for Presia's death, she only dies in the Anime. Basically, she was trying to create weapons for the Knights while one of Ascot's summon beasts bust in and kills her in the process. As for the Clef and Presia relationship, as far as I can see, it's only Presia who loves Clef, not the other way round (Clef doesn't seem to like anybody in particular).

21. In the end of the series did Eagle confess his feelings to Hikaru? And by the way, whom did Hikaru "marry"?

    Eagle never said anything directly about his feelings towards Hikaru in the Anime nor Manga. However, near the end of the Anime, he did say to Hikaru something along the lines of "I guess if I hug you now, even the person who loves you won't mind". As for how you interpret that, it's up to you ^^ Now, for those who are a bit clueless about the "marry" bit, near the end of the Manga, Lantis asked Hikaru how the people on Earth express their love to each other, Hikaru told him that it would be marriage. Lantis then asked Hikaru if she'll marry him, Hikaru's answer was "I'd want to marry both you and Eagle", Lantis asked if she could do that, she said no, but explained that she loves both him and Eagle equally as much. So I guess she didn't really "marry" anyone :P

    Well, provided Innova doesn't exist in the Manga, there were no stats provided. You might be able to find his stats in the various Anime Resource Books that were released, but I don't have any of them, so I don't know. If anyone knows, do please let me know.

23. What does seijyuu mean? And where did Princess Emeraude 'get' Innova and why she give him to Zagato?

    Literally, seijyuu means "spirit beast". Just think of them as beasts with magical abilities. The term seijyuu is used mainly to describe (not only in MKR) monsters/creatures that are more nutural than evil as they usually have more sense behind their motives than your average monster that has nothing but "kill" or "destroy" on their minds.

    As for where Emeruade got Innova, it was never explained, but think of him as Emeraude's pet. As for why she gave him to Zagato, that wasn't explained either. We only knew he was given to Zagato as a gift.

    As for Innova's love story, none was mentioned in the series, but he does seem to exercise complete obedience to Zagato's commands. Might be CLAMP's yaoi thing for the first season of MKR :P

    As for Zazu (and the rest of the cast), we do not know their age - it was never told. However, we do know that Zazu is older than Hikaru (who is 14) when they had a little chat on the NSX.

    Hmm, I've never actually thought of doing it like this... But I guess then this would require the reader to know about the specific series I use to compare with, so it won't work for everyone. Besides, it's been ages since I've watched any well known series (like Sailor Moon), so I won't be able to make a very accurate comparison. I'm always watching/reading new stuff everyday that makes my judgement clouded, besides, MKR is slipping into the back of my mind now... I used to be able to just about recite every single line that was said at a specific scene, but I can't do that anymore ~_~

    As for all these questions, I guess it's one of the ways where people could point out where I missed or things that I haven't seen before when I was making the page. Besides, answering questions can sometimes make you learn something - like this time.

    The main difference is there's less obvious relationship development in the Manga. In the Anime, you can pretty much see dead on that Hikaru likes Lantis, but in the Manga, she doesn't really show much affection towards either Lantis nor Eagle. Unlike the ending of the Anime where Hikaru confesses to Lantis, the Manga ends with Lantis asking if Hikaru would marry him. Hikaru's reply was she wants to marry both him and Eagle :P

    Hmm, a pretty long question, but let's break it down one by one:

    1. Does Hikaru go back to the Earth at the end of the Anime - Yes.
    2. Do they go back to Cefiro at the end of the Anime - No, at least it wasn't part of the story. They do in the Manga though, at least just for visiting.
    3. Does Hikaru become Pillar - Yes, but only for a short time (keep reading).
    4. Is Hikaru the Pillar at the end of the series in both Anime and Manga - NO. Hikaru abolishes the Pillar System at the end of the Anime and Manga, so she is no longer Pillar at the end of the story ^_~

    It's brown - at least if you compare it to Emeraude's. Note that the girls call Emeraude "a small girl with long blonde hair" before they knew who she was.

    Err, Mokona does the same thing he does in the Manga - lead them from place to place and be a target for Umi's mallet :P

    You know, you're really better off asking CLAMP these questions :P No, I don't know why Hikaru has less spells compared to the other 2 knights, but I didn't take part in making the series either did I?

    As much as how "human" the people in Cefiro are, Clef is the same. This is an Anime, not a documentary. Clef isn't the main character here, you can't expect them to give extensive information on him when you got another 10 characters to look after. As for his background, there is a flash back in the second season of the Manga that describes how he taught Lantis magic and introduced them to Princess Emeraude. There's also a scene where Emeraude seals herself and passes Mokona to him, asking him to guide the Magic Knights when they arrive.

    She likes them both equally as much in the Manga (she wants to marry them both). In the Anime, it is pretty obvious she likes Lantis, as for Eagle, you could say that she likes him as a friend instead of a lover.

    I love it when people claim I said things I never wrote.

    I have never said Hikaru "can't" return to Cefiro in the Anime, I only said she "didn't" return to Cefiro (refer to Question 28). However, the dialogue exchanged by the Knights at Tokyo Tower in the final episode ("I wonder what new stories are there in Cefiro now") suggests they are unable to return to Cefiro. It is true that those who have strong will are able to travel to Cefiro (as pointed out by the Mashin after their showdown with Debonair) and the above statement contradicts with this, but I would guess this is just a little something the script writer overlooked so they can put a final ending to the story.

    Wow, a "real" question...haven't had one in a long time...

    Unfortunately, there is no official material about how they came to be, we can only assume they were created by Mokona as part of his/her "all grand plan". This is one of the many things that is up to fans to imagine about. However, Mokona and the Mashins do show up in another CLAMP series called TSUBASA. I haven't read/watched that series, but there might be some information there (although anything in TSUBASA should be treated as an "alternate universe" since it's really a mix and match of all the CLAMP series put into 1 story).

    There are lot of fan fics with original stories on how they came to be though, if you're after fan interpretation. Here's a good place to start.
