RAYEARTH OMAKE
A N I M E   P O C K E T   G U I D E

Actually, there isn't an entry for Rayearth OVA in the original Anime Pocket Guide, so I'll just write my own :P
Also note the English DVD did not include the dub cast list in the credits, so the list of English voice actors is not "official".

It is one week till junior high school graduation for the best friends Hikaru, Umi and Fuu. After graduation, they will be going their separate ways and this is troubling all three girls, especially Hikaru. Not wanting to forget each other, the Hikaru makes a wish under an Oriental Cherry said to have a fairy that will grant any wish. Hikaru will never guess that her wish be with her friends will have an entirely different meaning leading to them fighting for the humanity's survival...

NOTE 1: Compared to the original series, this OVA has a much more serious theme with very little comic relief. There is also some scenes of nudity, although only outlines are shown.

NOTE 2: It should be noted that this OVA is just titled "Rayearth" (not "Rayearth OVA") and has NOTHING to do with the original series other than having the same characters.

  • 3 episode OVA (July to December 1997) release on VHS and LD. It was later re-released as a DVD boxset in November 2002.
  • A director's cut version titled "Wings of Hope" was released in 1998, it combines the 3 episodes into 1 single movie and includes around 5 minutes of new footage (while also cutting out around 5 minutes of old footage).
  • English DVD was released by Manga Entertainment on July 2003 with subtitled and dubbed tracks. Note the voice actors in the dub are different to the TV series which was released by Media Blasters.
