1. Is it Magic Knight Rayearth or Magic Knights Rayearth?

   It's "Magic Knight Rayearth," not "Magic Knights Rayearth". This was a subtitling error made by Silverwynd, the group that was originally fansubbing the series.

2. Anybody got a list of where all those names came from in MKR?

   Well, it's not 100% complete, but it's got most of the names. If you know any of the missing ones, please contact me!

   
   

   The Magic Knight Rayearth Car List

   This list was compiled for the purpose of aiding in the correct spelling of names and spells used in Magic Knight Rayearth. I had very little to do with looking up the names, so credit the following three guys if you're going to be using this list for translation purposes...

   • "Voice Memo" (who did most of the list)
   • "The High Priest of Her Fuu-ness" (who sketched in a few others)
   • "XapoH" for the Zazu reference
   • "Paul Rene Padilla" for the San-Yun reference
   • Japanese Wiki that filled in the blanks

3. Magic SpellBook Rayearth

   Since there's a lot of spells that got thrown around in the series, I made a spellbook to point out each spell I can find. This includes even those without names. Due to the size, I'm making a separate section for it.

4. What do they call Magic Knight Rayearth in Japan?

   I've heard some people call it "Mahou Kishi Rayearth" since that's what you call "Magic Knight Rayearth" if you translate it directly. However, they don't call it that in Japan. The way they name it is having "Magic Knight" in Kanji and "Rayearth" in Katakana. In the Anime, you can hear Zagato or Princess Emeraude (who both say it in the first episode) address them as "Majikku Naito" (this is how the Japanese read the English "Magic Knight"). So in real life, people call it "Magic Knight Rayearth" (in the Japanese way of saying it), or sometimes just "Rayearth". But with the release of the OVA, you should call it by the full name since the OVA is also called "Rayearth".

5. Media-Blasters Glossary

   When Media-Blasters did their translated version of MKR, they changed a few of the words in the original Japanese version to English. Here's a list of words that were changed so the purists out there could get picky.

   Original Japanese Term	Translated Term	Original Meaning
   -chan	-ster	-chan is a suffix used mainly for girls. It's used to express closeness. Hikaru uses this to address the other two Knights. Note that the -ster was only used in dubs while the subs left all this -chan/-ster business out.
   Mashin	Rune God	Mashin is made of 2 Kanji words, meaning "Magic" and "God" respectively. Basically, Magical God. However, when CLAMP first made this, it was also used as a pun for the English word "Machine".
   Honou no Ya	Flame Arrow	One of Hikaru's spells, original meaning is same as English translation.
   Akai Inazuma	Ruby Lightning	One of Hikaru's spells, original meaning is same as English translation.
   Mizu no Ryu	Water Dragon	One of Umi's spells, original meaning is same as English translation.
   Aoi Tatsumaki	Sapphire Whirlwind	One of Umi's spells, original meaning of "Aoi" is blue/green.
   Iyashi no Kaze	Winds of Healing	One of Fuu's spells, original meaning is same as English translation.
   Midori no Shippuu	Emerald Typhoon	One of Fuu's spells, original meaning of "midori" is green.
   Mamori no Kaze	Winds of Protection	One of Fuu's spells, original meaning is same as English translation.
   Imashime no Kaze	Winds of Admonishment	One of Fuu's spells, original meaning is same as English translation.
   Hikari no Rase	Spiral Flash	One of Knights' spells, original meaning is same as English translation.
   Seijyuu Raikai	Creature Return	One of Clef's spells, original meaning of "Seijyuu" is "Spiritual Creature".

   Raishou Gekisha	Lightningbolt Assault	One of Zagato's spells when he is in his Mashin, original meaning is "Lightning Blast".
   Anbaku Satshuu	Enbony Annihilation	One of Zagato's spells when he is in his Mashin, original meaning is "Darkness Explosion".
